Re: SCS General Nonsense Thread
Yeah in pretty much everything that has driving as the main (or rather, only) deal, I use(d) arrows. Does not count things like GTA or somethin because constantly switching between WSAD and arrows would be tiring, especially when it's so fast paced when sometimes you have to quickly swap between driving and running.
..the original Mafia had arrow controls for vehicles and that didn't bother me as much because all the opening, entering, starting the car took so much time.
As far as SCS games go, I used to use WSAD+QE for engine start, camera controls and indicators. You know, most used controls during driving right under three fingers.

In ets2 and ats i play with mouse as a steering wheel, left click as acceleration an right click as a brake. Rest of things are on keyboard. And also scroll click for autosave in case of emergency or crash

I use the mouse for everything – accelerating and braking by moving the mouse forward and backward, and turning by moving the mouse from side to side. It's the best way to control the accelerator and brake. I went years without knowing about the function (including pedals), and when I finally found out, I gave up on buying the steering wheel. I spent too much time just looking at the function (including pedals) and never figured out what it meant. I use the game's photo camera bug to make the mouse turn and speed widget disappear. (Please SCS, don't fix this bug)

My biggest feedback from the widget implementation was that it would have been a good idea to communicate the changes earlier to gather feedback ahead of time. That's exactly what they've done here. So a big thumbs up from me
I don't think I'll use it myself because I like traditional bindings, but I think it's a good idea especially for new players who don't know what options are available to them. It could be a tool for them to see what they use most often and then set keybinds based on that learning experience.

I wonder if it might be a good idea to show the corresponding hotkey(s) behind a function. We might learn them through that, could be beneficial even to experienced players when a new function comes.

You can see it already shows that if you have a keybind assigned to one of those functions, but we don't really know yet how far that goes.
Anyways, i just have a good laugh at the people having a meltdown saying SCS is "dumbing down the game on PC for Consoles" with that MFD, but they clearly fail to see that it will be something very useful for people who play with a controller or a steering wheel that doesn't have a lot of buttons, it can also help on a keyboard to free up some keybinds for things we don't use that often, i already see a few things i will unbind from my keyboard like the air suspension adjustment and a few other things depending if they pause the game or not.

What! Air suspension adjustments is the thing. Your missing the main purpose of the game. Can't live without it for my screenshots...
Maybe I exaggerate a little

Air suspension has saved me on a number of occasions. Also, although the games don’t give you the faintest idea about it, using the air suspension is indispensable when coupling a trailer. It should be necessary in advanced coupling mode.

Oh, it is super useful, has saved me a few times from getting stuck with a lowered truck, but with the MFD i don't see the need to have it with a keybind assigned.
One of the most interesting "pages" was this one, but the gif that shows it moves too fast, so i had to improvise.

Maybe they could squeeze in there how much fuel distance you have left for trucks that don't have it on the dash.
