Also remembering my friend's experience playing old 00's games (with tons of mods) on his RTX 3080 Ti - stutters/freezes are there too. Which means it's only about overloading the game engine once again, what exactly we got in ETS2/ATS. For now there are ways for decreasing the stutters only, but not getting total rid of them. Unless your gaming machine has a "lucky configuration".

Re: Stuttering 1.55 beta ATS
A little interesting fact: I mostly got rid of picture tearing at up to 170 FPS by fixating interior camera to the cab (camera shaking off, 0%) and setting FOV at about 50 degree, so the most of my screen is the windshield itself and what's behind it (well, what else do I need as a driver?
). Tiny tearing at side windows when looking around, but it looks acceptable for me. G-SYNC's enabled.

Simply try to fix the framerate ingame to 60 and check the result. You do not need more than 60 frames / sec!PikPikker wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 15:32 Well, when I hopped into 1.55 at the final release (I skipped all the beta's) - what I can instantly say is that it got much better than 1.54 for me (I remember dying from stutters before 1.55 - but now I don't, at least, way less), so they really did something good. I'm riding a 170 hz g-sync monitor, and my fps still drops in cities from 160-170 to kind of 110-130, but surely it's not that noticeable![]()

I do need more for sure. Since I switched from 60 hz to 170 hz I'm never coming back and the difference is too noticeable
But that's entirely my own choice and my own decision

Very interesting to see. This is not "rubber banding" where the CPU is a bit busy and then later tries to catch up but this is really the computer freezing for a few milliseconds or more. I would almost blame hardware or video drivers for this. In my opinion This stuttering is too frequent to be a resource loading issue. The occasional stutter every few minutes may be because new map and other resources are loaded from disk, but this is so frequent that it must be something else.trainguy_modding wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 02:09 Video of stuttering: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dbpu8egtnE

Actually, I believe it is to do with resource loading from disk, but not just that alone. When memory is nearly full, these games now rely on the Windows swap file to "make more room" in RAM. So while new resources are being loaded from disk, it is also trying to write big chunks of RAM back to disk. If you have just the one drive, it can become a major bottleneck, especially with the new map sections with both unique and higher res models and textures.The_SimTrucker wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 08:59 ...

Personally (I'm not a programmer, so maybe there is a reason), I don't see the value in relying on the swap file — why write something back to disk that is already on the disk? If it's in the swap file, it can't be used directly by the program, so will have to be loaded back into RAM. And if you need to reload it, why not back from the original source on disk? Save that whole writing step and just dump it when not needed and running short of RAM.
Can somebody point out the flaw in my logic?

I really hope SCS reaches out to NVIDIA cuz I'm still getting stutters in cities in California

The only thing a swap file is good for is to park stuff on disk that is not being actively used, like for some background idle process.
If your games data is being swapped you either need more ram or need to reduce settings to bring down ram use, or there's some other stuff running and consuming it.

Appreciate your comment. I upgraded to a 4070 Super 16gb ram from a 1050ti 16gb ram but I plan on upgrading my CPU, storage, and RAM... I hope that all three will help and make a difference.Grizzly wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025 07:15 The only thing a swap file is good for is to park stuff on disk that is not being actively used, like for some background idle process.

@trainguy_modding
You said you were gonna upgrade your CPU
That may be a good idea because it could be causing a bottleneck that might be contributing factor to the stutters.
I don't know what your budget is like but I'm thinking like maybe an i9-14..., somewhere a long that line. Are you running the latest Nvidia drivers? Reason I asked is because the last one in particular has been wreacking havoc on some systems. Some have even had their cards bricked. Some have been lucky not to experience anything.
Another thing to look into.
