The bonus stars are just that - a bonus to expand gameplay for those experienced and skilled players looking for an extra challenge!

The team and myself set the time limits based on using default keyboard settings (including steering sensitivity) and "safe and prudent" speeds.

Honestly if you are struggling, it's not a bad thing; it just means you need more practice!
If the scenarios are intended to be finished under normal pass conditions and the bonus challenges are just... bonus... then why tie a Steam achievement to it that requires almost all of them to be completed with 3 stars, instead of let's say 10 or 15? You already cones as ingame cosmetics for it - so there is basically not even a need for an extra achievement. Instead you force casual players that happen to be completetionists as well into a frustrating challenge.

Would be really nice if we won't get any further Steam achievements tied to such a frustrating experience.

At least I got a lot of practice in reckless truck driving now, because that was all those challenges did for me...

Because the achievements are also, technically, a bonus. If you are a completionist then that's your choice (The same way it is also your choice to either complete or not all scenarios with 3 stars). There are other games with much much harder achievements than this and at the end of the day, ETS2 is a game just like every other on Steam.

Toning the criteria of the achievements down because some players that are completionists cannot do what's being required is ludicrous. And if you ask me, it should've been 3 stars in all 26 not just 23.

It's the same thing when a student is assigned a homework along with a hard part for extra credit. The student chooses to either not do the hard part at the expense of losing the credit OR he chooses to grind for it to get the credit.

I already managed to complete harder challenges than this - that's not the point. The point is that we here (used to) have a casual relaxing game where all achievements before have been pretty easy doable because casual game. But at some point somebody decided to turn it into a frustrating trial & error simulator with challenge requirements that make no sense and are dimetral to RL driving principles for no reason.

All these "mandatory optional" challenge requirements have done is produce frustration and divide the playerbase, which easily could have been avoided.

Don't get me wrong, I do see where you're coming from. But you are contradicting yourself here.

You claim that the achievement is hard and frustrating but you also claim that you completed harder challenges and that's not the point. It doesn't add up.

Driving Academy is a pretty new part of the game that added a whole new type of gameplay... so it's true that the gameplay you are used to in career has changed. That was the intention :D

As for choosing to drive recklessly, that would be a choice. The bonus requirements are our way of testing your ability to complete a given scenario with the proper maneuvers in a reasonable time frame. If you have to pull up more times, then it wasn't the intended maneuver. If you take too long then... well... you took too long!

If you somehow interpret this as Driving Academy forcing you to drive recklessly then you missed the point entirely, I'm afraid.

Wonder if there are people who got 3 stars in every lesson while using a W900.

That is a direct result of the strict time limit - cause and effect...

Why does it not add up? If I know a game will be hard, I can expect crazy challenges. But if game has been easy and relaxing for a decade, why does it suddenly need a competitive aspect with hard challenges? That is what doesn't add up. And that's why a lot of people are freaking out that previously had all achievements for the game and are now suddenly confronted with an extremely difficult and frustrating challenge. That's also why I said if SCS insists on having some "optional" crazy challenges in the game, then they shouldn't be tied to Steam achievements or at least need a smaller completion requirement number.

As someone who plays with a keyboard and who never really bothers with reversing trailers in this game, I still managed to complete the first three chapters without too much hassle. The fourth one is a bit tougher as I have a small monitor and I can't really see anything out of the passenger side mirrors. I could definitely complete it with enough attempts, but I don't have the time any more to sit around and keep restarting the challenges (maybe 10-15 years ago it would have been a different story  ).
