Blender Material Attributes "save" problem(?)

#1 Post by CodyVhm » 23 Jul 2025 09:38

Hello!

I’m using Blender version 3.6, and I’ve come across an issue related to copying and pasting materials. Specifically, Blender has a feature where you can copy a material from one object and paste it onto another. This process seems to include the attributes as well — such as the values for Diffuse, Environment Factor, Shininess, and so on.

I found a base material setup that I really liked, and I want to apply it to multiple parts of my model. When I use the Copy Material and then Paste Material function, it appears to work visually — the part of the model looks exactly as it should after the paste.

However, the issue is that Blender doesn't seem to actually change the attribute values in the backend. Everything looks fine initially, but once I save the project and reopen the .blend file, the parts where I pasted the material revert back to their original values, as if nothing ever changed.

So my question is: has anyone else experienced this? What could be causing Blender not to retain or apply the actual attribute values from the copied material, even though it looks correct before saving?

Thanks for the answers or if someone can help me! :D
