Blog Summary for May 4-10, 2026

There were 5 new blog posts this week.

1.59 for both games released this week, and brings with it some sigificant map updates: Illinois compatiblity in ATS, and the Benelux Rework in ETS2. Both games got improvements to the new route advisor introduced in 1.58, Tow to Road, and the redesign of the Skills Screen, and some enviromental improvements like traffic sounds. Detours have been temporarily disabled in 1.59 as SCS continues to work on improving them.

For map DLCs, we got the last two topics for Illinois on Saturday (Chicago and the Special Transport Routes, aka the "BIG in..." blog) in a combo post ahead of the DLC's release this coming Thursday, and an Iceland blog highlighting the custom depots that will be found in the country. Sunday's blog featured an interview with Patrik, the technical map lead for ATS, where he went in-depth on building Canada and going outside of the United States in ATS for the very first time.

Blog Summary for May 11-17, 2026

There were 5 new blog posts this week.

Not a bad week for news, at all!

The biggest announcement, hands down, was the Illinois DLC release on Thursday, adding the first state fully east of the Mississippi River in the game, the US's third-largest metro area (Chicago), and further expanding upon the Midwest.

Other map DLCs recieving news this week were Road Trip and Isle of Ireland. We also got a blog post about Stonehenge, which will be featured in the upcoming rework of the United Kingdom.

Finally, ATS got a couple new trucks this week, one previously teased (the 2025 Volvo VNL) and another being a surprise (Volvo VNR Electric)--the latter being the first electric truck added to ATS! However, due to the fact that the electric truck charging infrastructure still being worked on, the new VNR, like all other electric trucks in both games, is exclusive to Quick Jobs for now.

Better believe it, we got our first blog post regarding the next update...when 1.59 hasn't even been out a month at all. So be prepared...seems like the updates will be coming quick and fast!

Outside of that, in terms of map expansion DLCs...or DLCs in general...only South Dakota (ATS) got a blog this week.

The other three blogs included: A wrap-up of this year's Fan Day Experience, an SCSotR on the new Volvo VNL, and we met the two winners of this year's Star Nation Experience: Congrats, Nathan and Conor!

Blog Summary for May 25-31, 2026

There were 6 new blog posts this week.

More 1.60 features, an Iceland blog and...a new map expansion for ATS in the works!

With the sounds heard in the teaser video. the truck paintjob, and the fact that we just got Illinois, it's a pretty high chance the next state to be announced looks to be Indiana! Aside from the Illinois Community Spotlight, the only other map DLC to get a blog this week was Iceland, which spotlighted the fjords in the Land of Fire and Ice.

We got a lot more news about 1.60 this week. Vehicles should look a bit better with an improved material system. Game Radio revolutionizes the current in-game media player and radio, and a highly requested overhaul of the rest/fatigue system will also come with the new update.

Blog Summary for June 1-7, 2026

There were 6 new blog posts this week.

27 days after the release of 1.59...we have the first open beta for 1.60. For comparison--the time between 1.51 and 1.52 was 36 days, though remember that update 1.52 did not have an open beta. The OB brings with it a lot of mainly quality-of-life and visual improvements, including an overhauled rest and fatigue mechanic, player company paint jobs in ATS, a revamped in-game radio, and more!

Friday's blog post revealed the next DLC for American Truck Simulator...The Hoosier State, Indiana! While it's smaller than size than Louisiana, it's only slightly smaller than Iceland (which is getting it's standalone ETS2 DLC), but it should be just as content-packed as its counterpart in the bayous.

No blog on Saturday, but Sunday's blog had a surprise announcement--SCS will be at a music festival in Hradec Králové, Czechia, as they were invited by Playstation CZ to their gaming hangar at the event. If you live in and around the area, go check it out!

Lots of news this week, even though DLC updates were a bit on the light side.

South Dakota got a post spotlighting more custom depots coming to the Mount Rushmore State, and British Columbia got another behind-the-scenes post, featuring one of the Map Designers, Wety.

Both the Next-Gen T680 and W900 are getting new TourAmerica paint jobs for America 250, and they'll be arriving with the upcoming 1.60 update, which is currently in open beta.

Sunday's blog post featured an open house that SCS hosted as a part of Open House Prague 2026 two weeks ago, with a reminder that if you want to look around the SCS offices, you can do so on Google Street View!

Blog Summary for the Month of May, 2026

There were 22 total blog posts for April 2026, bringing 2026's yearly total to 97 as of May 31.

May ties February for the month with the most blog posts so far!

Updates came fast and quick, with 1.59 dropping for both games to start the month, the Illinois DLC relasing for ATS a week later, and then blog posts for the 1.60 update to close out the month, which hit open beta in early June. 1.60 looks to be a big update, bringing with it lots of new features, including further improvments to the new widget system and some quality-of-life improvements...the biggest one potentially being an overhaul to the current rest and fatigue mechanic.

All map DLCs for both games got at least one blog post in May, as well as the teaser for the next in-development DLC for ATS--which we later found out is going to be the Hoosier State, Indiana.

Road Trip got 2 blog posts; however, Coaches got none.

Another 6-post week!

Version 1.60 released for both games this week--ATS on Tuesday, and ETS2 on Thursday.

For Map DLCs, Iceland and SoA got a post. Iceland's post spotlighted the city of Akureyri, and we met the team working on Soul of Anatolia, which includes developers that worked on both Greece and Nordic Horizons.

Finally, we got an SCSotR and an Under the Hood post spotlighting the Map QA team--there's a lot of work that goes into the in-game map!
