It's not impossible but I'm not expecting it to be around 1:5, maybe 1:10 though. Fernbus, another UE game, is 1:10 and the game is actually quite sizable despite having redundant scenery and major performance issues.flight50 wrote: 06 Mar 2026 21:18 1:5 or even 1:10 would be insane lol. But a lot of ATS/ETS2 fans have been hollering for that.

Re: Road kings
Yeah the first gameplay video is going to make or break the game IMO, also performance is going to be something to look out for, since it's UE5 and UE is not known for having "good" performance on most games, hopefully though they do get the performance squared away correctly without having to resort to DLSS/FSR to save the game's performance.

Re: Road kings
Well the big thing about 1:10 is the continued mapping if they plan on covering more ground. Initially a game in 1:10 on its debut isn't bad if they don't plan on expanding it much. A few maps here an there. In the case of trying to map a whole country............the stakes are higher. Why stop in just one area if the game is selling. Add on content is the name of the game. Its the easiest way to milk a game. Milk is just a figure of speech of saying the game can live on with continued updates without having to release a new game yearly. SCS has a very nice business model. So I can't say others copying SCS....it just works if you mapping a whole country.
One of the biggest let downs so far is the fake signage. Why even go to that extent. They might as well just make it like real life..........unless the game is more fictional based. They might regret not making the signage more accurate like SCS though.

Re: Road kings
I'm hoping those fake exit signs on the gantries were just common-free UE assets that won't be used in game. I'd be super disappointed if they used those in game, but one of the screenshots on Steam has a semi-accurate US interstate gantry sign, so maybe there isn't a need to be worried.
In the web interview I linked yesterday, Peter Mack said "Let us get up toward Missouri and we can talk about that, but right now you're in sort of north Florida to southern Georgia.", so there might be plans to expand the map to other states than Georgia and Florida even if the scale is big.

Re: Road kings
Rumor has it that a closed beta for this game is starting very soon, but betas like that are under a very strict NDA, so is not like we will get much info out of that, but if they are ready to start doing that, the official release is not that far away.

I also heard from one of Focus' Community Managers that there will be news soon, so maybe the news will be related to the testing. But to also note, she also responded to someone who said "a small snippet of gameplay would be nice" and she said "you'll have more than that don't worry". There might be both news about the Gameplay and maybe the confirmation of closed testing at the same time.
I'm thinking now that John Carpenter's Toxic Commando has been released, that Road Kings might get the spotlight soon.

According to the FAQ, Mack and International will be the first brands in-game; and in the screenshots and trailer, there's an International LT, FleetStar, LoneStar, and Mack Anthem.

Re: Road kings
One thing for sure is that with such a smaller footprint, that map scale has to be a pretty good size. The issue that can arise is keeping up with that scale as more expansions come. The scale will be critical. Either they bit of more cookie than they can chew, or they are already planning ahead. They'd probably throw a lot more devs gearing up for a lonnnng project if its successful. Taking a page out of SCS's book.
I'm sure if RK is releasing this year, they are already working on a follow up map to release. I can't see them just sitting back waiting to see how the game does. If they invested this type of energy thus far, I'm sure they are planning ahead and already started working more map to release. Same as SCS map teams doing preliminary to start the next map.

Re: Road kings
I'm pretty sure they won't do the entire country. And the fact that they first release a part of 2 states instead of a whole one or 2 is weird.
Maybe they'll release other maps but that won't be connected with each others lol but nah, it wouldn't make any sense.
