i had yesterday a long job and used the "esc-> set waypoint" again (prevent it the days before if possible).
i had deactivate the AI because of stupid (g_set traffic 0) and it worked normal (?)
after this i turned on the AI again and it worked normal.
But! --> there i got no loading screen / cutszene so it must be a problem with this...
still sad that it has no bugnumber and will be investigated...

Re: Gameplay changed using "ESC" (?)
If I understand the topic correctly, the issue is that when you accept a WoTr job, and then pause the game for some reason (e.g. go to main menu, open the map, or enter the photo mode), when you want to return to the game, it "resets", writes something about "startup watchdog" in the console, shows you the loading screen briefly, and despawns all the traffic around you. Am I correct? Because that has been happening to me a lot when I pick a WoTr job. I get the job, I go to connect the trailer, I open the map to see the route, I press ESC to get back to driving, and I get a loading screen out of nowhere. And then for the rest of the journey, no random loading screens when I use main menu or open the map. It happened with more than half of online jobs. But as it was happening only once per job at most, it was a little bit annoying but I just accepted it as a quirk of the game, that the game needed to clear something for some reason and reset to a "clean" state. When I played earlier versions of the game on a potato laptop over a year ago, I had these random loading screens when returning to the game significantly more often, not limited to online jobs, and typically when exiting the photo mode. But again, I didn't consider it a big deal, because the state of the truck, including speed, was always preserved and the only real annoyance is the sudden lack of the traffic around, which, again, pretty minor.

Re: Gameplay changed using "ESC" (?)
it starts with the 1.56 update.
i drive at the highway with normal speed and press "esc" to go too the menu for setting a waypoint in the GPS for my next reststop.
and when i want to go back to driving before 1.56 you sit in the truck and you drive at the position (& speed) where you leave.
now it happens that your truck stands on the road (ignition is on, but truck is completly stopped).
(and i only do WOTR jobs, no others)
so yes this is the problem (now)

Had the problem yesterday after i decide i use the method again to set a waypoint while driving in ETS.
and again i stand in the middle on the highway like an idiot with engine off.
and no one cares that this is a bug...

@Seelenkrank I haven't had that issue but you may want to use "M" to go to the map instead of ESC. It goes straight to the map and after you set your waypoints, etc., returns straight to driving. No more having to go through menus.

Re: Gameplay changed using "ESC" (?)
*oh*
i never used this method with "M" (finding "ESC" is easy on the keyboard)
i will give it a try!
Thank you!!!
EDIT: im faster in the map itself yes, but after pressing "M" again the same problem happens...

Copying from another thread:
I also can provide logs and video recording of the bug happening, if necessary.San_Sany4 wrote: 28 Oct 2025 12:46 I have noticed something that might be related or be the actual reason. For me, this issue seem to be happening on the very first job, if I take it immediately after loading the profile.
When you end a regular offline freight market job and pick up the next job, the trailer you just delivered stays in its place until you drive away and it despawns. But if you just delivered an external job trailer, when you take the next job, the game will despawn the trailer you just delivered and in the console, there will be two "Trailer position is occupied by player or trailer!" errors with the same coordinates.
However, there is a way to prevent this (that's how I got all those screenshots with two even trailers side by side on my WoTr). When you end the external job, move your truck from under the trailer, and exit the profile (including the case of exiting the game completely). Then, when you load the profile, don't load the game world (e.g. by clicking "Drive") and instead, take a new external job from the list. When the game world loads and your truck spawns, the trailer from the previous job will be still there, not despawned.
And now, the key point: if after that you open any game menu like Map or main menu, and get back to the game, now the game will trigger the short loading screen, will despawn the trailer from the previous job, and will show "trailer position is occupied" errors in the console.
So, that makes me think that when the game does both "taking a new job" and "loading the game world" simultaneously, it does not trigger something ("startup watchdog", maybe?), and then it's only triggered the next time the game world is paused by going into a menu. This does not happen when you first load the game world, then take a new job. Probably because in this case, the game handles the job first, then the world, not the other way around.
Can anyone else confirm that this happens when a job is taken right after the profile loading, before the world loading? Because to me, that seems to be related.
And this situation with previous job trailer despawning looks sus to me as well: why does it despawn with a double error, if nothing else is there? Because the game can actually spawn it, as evident by the method I explained above. Looks like the game checks the position of trailer against itself trying to respawn it, but it's already there so it despawns "both" of them. It seems like a bug to me. And if this despawn is intentional, for some reason, then the method that allows it to spawn is a bug, instead.

Re: Gameplay changed using "ESC" (?)
After further experiments with this it appears that the fundamental problem with the secondary loading process, which only happens with WoT jobs, is that the speed of the truck is set to zero which causes the truck to stall immediately. If the truck is stationary when the second loading screen happens then the electrics do not go off but some other elements do get reset (I have noticed that driver position, which for me affects whether the driver's side mirror is fully visible or not, and traffic are also reset, but there may be other things that don't obviously show up).
Cheers, Steve

Re: Gameplay changed using "ESC" (?)
It is very annoying, I hope someone finds a solution.
I do not use mods, only some workshop mods are active (no traffic, ai, map mods are loaded).
I will try to use M instead of Esc, but sometimes I go back to the menu, for example, try other graphic settings, or relocatte my trucks, etc,...
