More than any other rework project so far, I think the UK rework will be utterly transformative. Right now the only place in the UK that is still somewhat memorable to me is Dover, everything else feels very generic. It just doesn't feel like the UK at all.

In real life the country has a good amount of geographic and cultural diversity that just wasn't reflected in UKTS or the 2012 ETS2 version of the UK. It'll basically feel like an entirely new area of the map opened up to us after years of a lot of us just flat out refused to drive there.

I'm hoping they can fit in cities they missed like Leeds, Exeter, Norwich, Bristol, etc. And fill in gaps that are base map material like southwest Scotland, east England, etc.

Tbh, I wouldn't mind if they released the UK in geographic phases if it meant that the UK was going to be super dense and well done. Like release all of England first, the. Wales, then Scotland.

Can it release in one year already?👀 If Iceland comes mid 2026 Ireland could come end of 2026. They won't release Ireland before UK rework, or will they?😁

They really shouldn't release Ireland first. "Hey buy this new DLC but in order to really enjoy it you'll need to wait X months for us to finish another project" is not a great selling point.

I kinda like that idea of releasing it in phases too, but I'm not too sure on that either.

If they do such Phase releases, maybe do all the areas currently in the game reworked completely from scratch, then add in the second and/or third phases places like Cornwall, Norfolk, and more of Scotland and Wales.

It depends on if they want to release the UK Rework (or partial rework) alongside the console versions. As clippy said, we'll get to know come the official announcement.

No way they do it in phases, why would they want to limit their mapping possibilities having to keep maintaining connections to the 16 year old UK map over the course of multiple updates?

Only way it could be phased is if they do the entirety of the UK base map in one go, and then decided that the rest of Wales and the rest of Scotland can still be base map (unclear if those will be paid or free), and then they do those as additional phases. But phases that involve keeping some of the 2009/2012 base map (which is impossible if they switch to 1:19), that wouldn't make any sense.

Phases was terrible idea. This still results in some quality differences in Germany.

Didn't they say they want to do it in one go? It will take a long time but once it's done, it's done. No need for internal compatibility with older areas.

And Ireland (the island) really doesn't need GB (the island) to be out. It would be nice but without a land connection it's not very different from crossing the English Channel - not necessary to enjoy the new and pretty.

Yeah you all are right. With the age it probably is best to just do it in one go.

If you're not going to use the UK to enjoy Ireland, then you're probably limited to (I may be wrong about this):

Cork to Roscoff
Rosslare to Bilbao

if they add the Zeebrugge ferry to the Benelux rework:
Cork to Zeebrugge
Rosslare to Zeebrugge

It's workable but Ireland really needs a driveable UK to complement it. Plus, gameplay wise it's more fun to go from RHD to RHD than RHD to LHD.
