External contracts limitations (?)

#1 Post by Grad » 01 Dec 2025 07:50

Hello,

Primarily making this post hoping there might have been actual known information about External contracts generation. With the new DLC, there is now a lot of new options for very long trips (over 4.000km), and I actually came up wanting to do the actual longest possible trip through the entire map (noted all the Expansion DLCs would be needed for distance comparison). So after doing some mapping in-game, I eventually figured the longest trip would be Algeciras (Spain) to Honningsvag (Norway), which is about 5.700km without any ferry.

So then I pretty much sat on Honningsvag and tried to cycle through the contracts (taking the first longest available contracts and abandonnning them to generate new ones until I get the desired itinerary, pretty much), and I have done that for a couple hours now. Something I noticed is that there has been no contract at all to any city in Portugal, nor any city located at the south part of Spain. The actual longest contract I had found was one from Honningsvag to Madrid which is about 4.900km; after also switching to some cities like Malaga, Sevilla, Badajoz, Sines, Lisboa, etc. I noticed there was no contract going over 5.000km. Could this be an actual limitation? Because if it is, I'd find it pretty sad.

WoTr contracts are just broken. Many alternative job generation schemas were suggested (I personally prefer "for each depot generate a job for each trailer type. If multiple cargoe-trailer combinations are suitable, generate a few of them" - simple and robust with balanced box/low/log/other appereance).

The only hope for change in WoTr is introduction of RT/Coaches, where endless Empty pellets and Yachts wont be possible.

This would help to make sure there's always job for all trailer types suitable for the depot (noting that not all depots have jobs for all trailer types), it would do nothing in terms of bad cargo distribution and issues with certain destinations very rarely appearing.
Job generation is not an easy thing to fix.
