Manual transmission clutch behaviour

#1 Post by phil1096 » 28 Jan 2026 18:52

When driving manual, as soon as you start driving and let go of the clutch, you can feel that it does'nt fully disengange, which feels like a wrongfuly placed auto-clutch system.

So if i start with 0.5 mph and let go of the clutch completely, the truck won't stall but rises revs unnaturaly, unless i let go of the accelerator and accelerate again.
What i encountered is probably perfect for the Automatic transmissions on hills for example.
Feels kinda weird.
Other than that the new throttle feel is great :)

+1. Was going to post something similar. It's especially noticeable on manual shifts. The RPM doesn't fall into place quickly like you'd expect with a manual. It's quite gradual, like it would be with an automatic. Overall, I like the drivetrain behavior better than before. There's much better torque from a stop. But this part still needs fine-turning, and manuals and automatics shouldn't shift the same way. I'm including my log for whoever wants it.

The way RPMs drop now is actually more realistic, truck engines have big displacement, they don't rev up/down so quick

I was talking about RPM dropping into place after shifting into a gear and releasing the clutch, not revving in neutral.

I agree, even without using the clutch it seems to behave a bit like a torque converter when changing gears. Might explain why it doesn't stall so easily now.

Oh, I haven't noticed that,I'm usually floating gears which works better now, smoother.

Edit: are you playing with a wheel?

Yes, wheel, 3 pedals and manual truck shifter. I'm seeing what the OP mentioned too, that basically the clutch releases very slowly. That's evident when you just suddenly release the clutch from a standstill in first gear. Even though I released my clutch quick, the game acts like I released it very gradually. That may work as an optional assist but it shouldn't be forced.

Hm, that's weird, it works fine for me. Like if I back up to hook a trailer I can actually control the clutch as in real life, so release it a bit then step on it again to not get too fast and because the truck has inertia now it'll keep rolling slowly, then release a bit again to smoothly couple the trailer

Well, it "works", just not fully correctly. Have you driven with a manual transmission in real life? I have. Also, it's clearly different from the previous version of the game. The previous version was lacking the low-end torque, but the RPM's fell into place much more quickly, and that part was more realistic. So I hope the devs can still fine-tune it further.
