I see the RPMs dropping a little at around 50%, but no feeling in the truck. I only see any useful movement at like 80 or 90% off the clutch. At that point I just drop it and go and it feels kind of unsatisfying. Never driven a real truck so I don't know what it's supposed to feel like.
I haven't paid attention to how a partially engaged clutch behaves in the current version, but what's 100% wrong is how even with the clutch fully released, the game auto-manages the clutch for the player (partially presses it) so the engine doesn't stall while doing stupid stuff like taking off in 10th gear. I haven't driven a semi in real life either, but I've certainly driven manual transmission vehicles in my younger days for many years and I know how they're supposed to behave. This is a really bad, unrealistic update.

Hello, my manual gearbox has completely stopped working. The gears won't engage. When I shift back to 1.57 it works, but when I shift back to 1.58 it doesn't. I'm using the TH8A with the Aikeec shifter.

Have to agree with most and say this feels like the system has been dumbed down slightly probably as compromise to console version. I had a go last night, just bobtailing around a city (so lots of stop starts) and the truck felt far too snappy, the revs are shooting up as if the engine doesn't have any inertia. So I tried a job with a 49,000lbs trailer and the driving behaviour was pretty much just the same - throttle response was way too quick and there was no feeling of the load on the engine or weight I was supposedly pulling behind me. There is also the issue of why the truck doesn't roll on a hill in neutral with the brakes off . . .
Overall, I think they've gone a bit backwards with these tweaks, even the most basic driving games can get these things working reasonably well and the Physx engine can model these behaviours pretty well from what I have read.

If you mean the truck doesn’t roll backwards, that may be due to the new hill assist feature. I don’t know if it is active by default or how well it works.

That's what I suspect is happening, but surely shouldn't affect a manual trans. The truck only starts to roll once a gear is selected (even with the clutch still pressed) Not a huge issue, but another small step in detracting from realism to more of an arcadey feel. Maybe when they've finished reworking Belgium for the 15th time someone could look at it . . .

Why not a manual? Granted, this may be a carryover from the upcoming Project Road Trip too, but I’m not convinced trucks with manuals don’t have it. Legacy trucks like the W900, not sure, but the game has never made a difference there when it comes to assistance systems.

That's not a new issue, but I reported it some months ago. I'm guessing it's by design and it predates the hill-assist option. That's another thing that's inaccurate or dumbed down in the simulation.

I really hope it's not because of the console version. From what I read the changes were made for the Road Trip functionality, to accommodate lighter vehicles. That's fine in principle but it still needs work, especially since they broke the truck behavior in higher gears when accelerating from a stop and the speed of manual shifting.

How I wish ATS had physics more like BeamNG! That one has the physics, this one has the trucking delivery gameplay and progression.

Ahahaha, don’t get me started about BeamNG physics. Part is great, part is nonsense.
