Re: Manual transmission clutch behaviour
I'll try the newer trucks. But the analog needles definitely wouldn't be that slow in real life. Also, the changes obviously went beyond just the tachometer animations. The way the truck takes off easily without stalling, especially in higher gears, was a big change.

@DracoTorre Yup, you're right. The digital panel gauge trucks like the 57X don't have the slow shifting issue. This inconsistency is definitely a bug then. I don't know if SCS is still reading this thread though. But even these trucks still have the other issue of having the anti-stall auto-clutch (taking off in a high gear, dropping the clutch and the engine won't stall if throttle is pressed, which is completely unrealistic because the RPM would be below the idle minimum).

Re: Manual transmission clutch behaviour
At this point I wonder if the unrealistic behavior especially in higher gears is looked at as “collateral damage” and as such doesn’t have too much priority to get fixed. Yes the engine should stall if you drop the clutch, but who would realistically try if it stays on if you press the throttle. Yes #2 I still think it should be fixed.

Re: Manual transmission clutch behaviour
I suspect so as well regarding the collateral damage, i.e. the unrealistically easy takeoff in a high gear is a consequence of the devs trying to fix the previous inability to take off even in a low gear on a slope. But it goes to show that the simulation still has some holes, another one being that we can't jump start the engine by rolling the truck and releasing the clutch. Still, I'm hoping they can maybe back off the changes a little bit to find some middle ground. And as far as the analog tachometer needle, that shouldn't be a hard fix. I just hope they agree it's a bug.Bandit & The Snowman wrote: 25 Feb 2026 21:25 At this point I wonder if the unrealistic behavior especially in higher gears is looked at as “collateral damage” and as such doesn’t have too much priority to get fixed. Re: Manual transmission clutch behaviour
I managed to mitigate the jumpy takeoffs by tweaking the throttle response curve. Apart from driving backwards, where I still have to wave at the pedal with a feather, it feels pretty nice now. (I drive with a Xbox controller and real automatic.) But I haven’t tried today’s patch yet.
Side effect: Taking off with high power (a racing start), as uncommon as it may be for trucks, now work great. You can even make the wheels spin on loose terrain. That’s clearly coming from PRT.

I’m pretty sure they’ve taken away the artificial 500RPM in 1.59. I will wait for others to see if they see it too.

If by that you mean that you can't take off with a loaded trailer in 10th gear anymore, that's right! I actually found out earlier today myself and was pleasantly surprised. So SCS quietly listen to us or maybe they came to the same conclusion about the recent behavior being unrealistic. It's indeed much better now.INSTG8R wrote: 20 Apr 2026 01:57 I’m pretty sure they’ve taken away the artificial 500RPM in 1.59. I will wait for others to see if they see it too.
