SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.
Posting in the Mods forum (ATS and ETS2) is restricted to sharing free-to-the-public mods and providing support for mods. For more details, please check the Forum Rules.

[WIP] 1:10 Scale USA Map

#1 Post by trainguy_modding » 07 Feb 2026 06:21

Hey everyone, development is just beginning, and I'm going to say it upfront... I am by no means skilled at, nor do I have much experience with, the map editor. I'm shocked myself. I even got this far. However, this mod is/will be what the title references; this mod will be all 50 states on a 1:10 scale. But, if this mod will ever be that successful, I'll seriously need help (anyone who has more experience then me) join our team. Clear roles needed (mappers, asset creators, prefab editors, testers). I'm having trouble with one city; I can't imagine doing the entire U.S. all by myself, let alone the quality would be garbage if I did it myself. Please, if anyone is interested, join our server here: https://discord.gg/fQF35aYrcx Please note: there's an application upon joining the server. In the meantime, I left two screenshots of the current progress. Let me know what you think of the development so far. :)

Mannnn this is a HUGE task at hand for all 50 states. Good luck on it. This is a 30 year project. SCS works on it full time with several map teams and they are only a little more than halfway thru the US in 10 years.

If I had to offer advise to not get too discouraged, shoot for 1 city first at 1:10. Then 1 state at 1:10 and go from there. I don't wanna be a Debbie Downer but its a very very time consuming process if you plan on reaching the level that SCS now does. Even with a small team to help you, its a lot to do.

People constantly talk about wanting a 1:10 map but no one ever attempts it. Cool to see you at least trying.

In ETS2 there are 1.1 cities and a large scale Norwegian project
But It is uncertain whether they ever were completed or only started.
The enormous amount of work that goes into achieving such a feat is difficult to comprehend

If the scale gets cut in half,If you double the scale (I believe thats the right expression), the mapsize along the X and Y axis doubles. Resulting in 4 equal sectors of the old scale. So the actual amount of work needed is 4 times of what SCS does. This alone is not easy to understand for most people.

Code: Select all

       Y-Axis
        ^
      2 | +-----------+-----------+
        | | | |
        | | Square 3 | Square 4 |
        | | | |
      1 | +-----------+-----------+
        | | | |
        | | ORIGINAL | Square 2 |
        | | | |
      0 +--+-----------+-----------+---> X-Axis
           0 1 2
So this project is very challenging and I respect you for starting it. Good luck!

This is an homungus project, for real... the only way it can be completed is to keep all possible from the base map and stretch the connection roads between the cities in my opinion but even this method will request centuries! good luck!!

Hey players, been a while since you've seen/heard any updates... finally found someone to help me, as I've stated before, I am not good at the map editor. Work has finally started. While we really started developing the map, we're not at the stage where we feel confident to share screenshots. However, I talked to my team, and we discussed doing weekly progress updates, whether to share screenshots or just text updates. And we are nowhere near discussing a release date yet, so we would like to kindly ask refrain from asking when it'll be released. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Hey players, we've been hard at work since our dev update last Friday. We've made significant progress, but still a ways away from release. Do not worry, we have plans to release it within 2026, maybe mid Q2 or mid Q3 of this year, which may get pushed back. We'll have to wait and see how development is in the weeks/months to come. We'd love to hear your feedback on your thoughts about this week's development update. Until then, I'll see you guys when I reply to your feedback next Wednesday! Stay warm!
Sincerely,
TGM, Oliviobobby
