It took SCS 10 years to get to the midwest with a fulltime team of 12/15 people per map.
Doubling the scale (multiplying the workload by factor 4) means you need a fulltime 48/60 person team to reach the midwest in 10 years. So you need many more then just replacing your one mapper.
Im not saying it cant be done, but it will be very hard to do so.

There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.

Yeah, you’re not going to get a team for this, start by modifying SCS maps by yourself and that’s probably all you’ll be able to do for a while.plykkegaard wrote: 24 May 2026 08:33 Noone wants to do all the grinding and hard work on a project this scale
There's a reason SCS chose 1:19 for Europe with England in 1:15 was an experiment and not much of a difference to Germany in 1:19

Re: [WIP] 1:10 Scale USA Map
^I have to agree with you both. Its an ambitious project even for a senior mapper. No even ProMods has gone 1:10. They just add to SCS's map. Best case, do a rescale like SCS did and splice in the new content like SCS did. At least half the work is done. 1:10 is a huge project for a non experienced mapper. The kid that started college, that could have been predictable that eventually they'd bail out. Its a multiple year project even for just one state at 1:10.
Hopefully everything works out. But the ambition is quite large.

What you said made me chuckle, don't take offence.
I am keenly following any progress of this as its such a goliath task and if done well could be an absolute game changer.
I agree with the sentiments of keeping people updated as much as possible with progress pictures, videos etc, it would keep people interested rather than it being just another mod which goes nowhere.
The more traction it gets the more likely you are to have people interested and wanting to join and help with the project.

Hey players, we've been hard at work since our dev update last month. We've added a ton of terrain and QoL improvements to Mojave, Kramer Junction, and Tehachapi, CA. We also have a video along with the screenshots; check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGZrpsddDC4. We'd love to hear your feedback on this week's development update. Until then, I'll see you guys when I reply to your feedback next Wednesday! Stay cool!
PLEASE NOTE: Development has been temporarily halted. Our only map developer started summer school. I don't do the map editor stuff. This means we do not know when the next dev update will be. Please be patient.
Sincerely,
Map Team

Whats halted the development process?
Would it not be beneficial to add scenery etc in the areas you have already built up? That way you can release the mod in stages and update as you progress with development?
Just a thought.
