Throttle and brake response 1.58.1.2s + continuing topic

#1 Post by vanhouten_cz » 03 Mar 2026 09:05

We are continuing with the third topic because it is still unresolved or unexplained why this is happening. From social media, I know that many people still have this problem. Some have gotten used to it, while others are annoyed by it and have stopped playing the game because of it, just like me.

The original topic can be found here: viewtopic.php?t=348490

The original topic of the original topic is included in the link.

Throttle solution:
I deleted the control.sii file in my profile and all gearbox_layout files. This solved the problems with the gas and "race mode." However, the problem with the brake pedal still persists.

I reduced the braking intensity to a minimum, i.e., 50%, but even when I brake only 1/4 of the way down the brake pedal, the whole cabin jumps and I can hear the ABS kicking in. If I turn off the ABS in the settings, I hear a continuous squealing of tires when braking.

Any other ideas to try?

I have mods on my profile, but that's not the problem. The second profile I have for testing new versions of the game is clean, without mods, and the problem is the same there. I also created a new profile on version 1.58 and it's still the same.

video from new profile: https://youtu.be/8uUvZ9LZpqU

deadzone: 10%

0:38 - Full braking (working good)
0:48 - minimum pedal depression just above the dead zone threshold (set to 10%)
1:26 - minimum pedal depression just above the dead zone threshold (set to 10%)
2:02 - 1/3 pedal depression - audible ABS intervention and tire squealing

I don't think this is standard behavior when braking. Currently, I don't have the option to brake smoothly before the intersection because the range for smooth braking is so small that it's simply impossible to hit it. So what happens is what you see in the video: whether I want to or not, I brake to 0 km/h 30 meters before the intersection or just before the barrier.

I would like to emphasize that this problem only affects version 1.58. I did not have this problem with 1.57, nor do I have it with other games. The steering wheel and pedals work correctly. I've been involved with ETS for over 10 years, I have experience with modding, I understand how sii files work, etc., but this is the most annoying problem I've had to deal with so far, and I can't solve it on my own.

Today I finally found a solution.

Gas:
Deleting control.sii helped me here.

Brakes:
1) I set the braking intensity to minimum (50%) in the game.
2) In the steering wheel control program (in my case, the prehistoric Logitech Profiler), I set the brake pedal sensitivity to 50%.
3) The most important point that helped the most was the "Range" of the brake pedal. I finally set its range to just 25%. Since then, it has been working as it should.

The sad thing is that SCS makes such a big change to the mapping and is unable to advise. They write long posts about each version on their blog, and I would appreciate it if they added a sentence like: "In the current version, major changes have been made to the mapping for the gas and brakes. If you encounter problems, try resetting the pedals in your software." Since the pedals continued to work fine everywhere else, it never occurred to me to look for the "problem" in the game device drivers in Windows. And I consider myself a technically proficient individual. I believe that many other players simply gave up and stopped playing because they couldn't solve this annoying problem and it was simply unplayable. I don't know how other steering wheels and software adapted, but for my old Logitech Driving Force GT, no adaptation came, and I had to spend a week looking for a solution myself.

My settings in Logitech Profiler.

I found a way to avoid jerking when starting. First of all, the settings in the G923 are 0% clutch, 50% brake, 0% gas, 10% dead zone and you have to look for your settings in sii by adding lines of code. After these steps and restarting the game, the truck no longer jerks in 1st gear, and braking is much more pleasant.First of all, the gas pedal is used in the entire range, not just a little as before and then reaches maximum revs. Now you can drive and not get angry
