Greetings.
I haven't played ATS in a while. I fired it up for the first time in many months after getting a new gaming controller. My new controller is an 8bitdo Ultimate 2 Wireless, which replaced an Xbox Wireless controller.
I told the game to use the new controller but I lost all of my binds. Is there an easy way to migrate my binds from my previous controller to this new one?
Thanks.

It seems that this controller doesn't play nice with ATS. I wiped out all my files in my steam_profile folder to and tried to recreate everything from scratch (Steam Input disabled for the game in Steam) but when I try to bind keys in the game, they just don't get recognized.
I can't bind the triggers for throttle / brake. I can't bind the bumper buttons for turn signals, etc. I can't get anything to work. I even tried the input wizard but that still didn't help.

I'm not familiar with your particular controller but just to make sure:
Does it always connect with your PC in the correct mode?
Did you select the correct input from the drop-down menu in your controller settings?
I'm playing with a GameSir Cyclone 2 and the points above caused me some quirks. Additionally, on Linux I experienced a similar problem with the bumpers and I think it was due to the system recognizing the controller as two distinct devices.
So that's what I'd double-check and maybe I'd give Steam Input a try too.

It sure looks that way. I've attached a photo of what it looks like for me in the Controls menu. I'm also adding Before and After screenshots showing the Keys and Buttons menu when I try to change the Throttle bind. Once I click the box to bind a key it shows controller button legends on the bottom of the screen, but never registers as a bind to use - if that makes sense.
Not sure how to check this? Hopefully my screenshot helps.SlashBeefgnaws wrote: 06 Mar 2026 09:28 Did you select the correct input from the drop-down menu in your controller settings?
Regarding Steam Input, I'm not sure how to handle this. I tried to enable it for the game in Steam yesterday while troubleshooting, but I still couldn't find a way to customize any buttons, rather than just using the Default layout recommended by the developer.

Re: [Steam] Switching to New Controller - Lost Config
I got this to work, finally. I ended up enabling Steam Input, and then in-game I chose Keyboard + Steam Input Controller (Xbox One / Series) instead of the 8bitdo controller.
I made sure Controller subtype was "Gamepad, joystick"
And then I was able to change "Steam Input mapping mode" to "In-game mapping" (which was previously greyed-out before enabling Steam Input)
What a faff!
