I'm assuming this must be possible but I cannot get it to work.
I either get one or the other.
For example I have an object (with UV_0 and UV_1)
It has the truckpaint shader applied in the material list, then I make another material and call it ao and apply that new material to the same object, but it overrides the truckpaint. I swear I had it working earlier on a small test piece but cannot remember what I did...
Basically, one object, two materials applied (truckpaint and ambient occlusion) how do I get these to work together? Preferably in simple terms.
Combining truckpaint shader with ambient occlusion?

If I understand correctly, you want two materials on one object? If so, you need to add a plus sign to the right of the material, create a material, enter model edit mode, select the object using vertices, select the material, and click assign.

It's OK I forgot to update, i figured it out. Use the truckpaint shader then bake in the AO and use that as the Base material.
I know how to add materials to objects, it was purely making AO work with truckpaint.
