they have update the demo few days ago, the full version looks like a game that can compete

Wheel support has improved, and there's a free driving area. You can drive around crashing through gates and knocking over barrels. Has potential.

Yep, and doors can be opened by the player. Looks like the world will be interactive as well as the truck.

The devs said a gameplay video was coming soon in February I think, and then basically vanished. Not even sure the game is in development any more.

That's sad. I mean the features did look promising for SCS to imitate. I wouldn't write them off yet, they've always been poor at communicating.
