Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
depends if it will be in a tuning pack or not.
Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
Honestly, a tuning pack for one of the oldest trucks in the game at this point, I don't think we're going to see it anymore. If we do eventually get a tuning pack in ATS, I assume it will be for one of the newer trucks like the Cascadia, or maybe the 9900i as it's the only classic-look truck with high model quality.

Yes, but by default, trucks in ATS have a minimum set of tuning. As for 389, it can be updated.
Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
To me, it makes the most sense to honor Paccar trucks with tuning packs. After all, had Paccar not provided licenses, ATS would not be where it's at today. Paccar paved the way. At least spice them up until the new gen Paccar trucks can come.
If the older trucks got some type of update, tuning packs is that route. But the manufacturer has to allow it to begin with.

My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
The 389 and 579 need model updates. The 579 axles are too spaced in the front and too close in the back. The fairings need help as well, and a bare frame (no skirts) version would be nice.
The 389 should be started over. New hood, breathers, bumpers, step boxes, tanks, rear fenders, updated headlights, and the list goes on. The interior is ok, but that is about it.

I would prefer the overhaul of 579 to 389 first. I’m not against 389 but IMO the truck model at least feels like a 389. 579 has a wildly inaccurate chassis and ground clearance, lacks a ton of customization options and also missing a couple of transmissions and a sleeper variant. A reworked 579 can be used as a base for the new 579 and 567 hence more beneficial.
Honestly speaking, the first four trucks has to be started over

Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
They can not use the old gen Paccar truck chassis for the new gen stuff. That recycles the inaccuracies. The new gen stuff needs to be from scratch just like everything since the Lonestar.

Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
Yeah, they are both terrible. The 389, though, frankly only exists in the mind of its modeler. The hood slope is overexaggerated; the step boxes have parts that don't exist irl; the bumpers curve several inches farther inside than they should; the breathers and tanks seem to have rounded straps; the bullbar is a bolt on, but in the style of a replacement (when it should be identical to the one on the w900), the sunvisors are almost all bad, but the default is just weird; the exhaust pipes (straight) are also off, the headlights are missing their blinkers (on the back), and the rear fenders look like a blend between a quarter and a half fender.harishw8r wrote: ↑01 May 2022 08:35 I would prefer the overhaul of 579 to 389 first. Then there's the terrible hood mirrors, the lack of front mudflaps, the sleeper marker lights that don't work, the weirdly shaped flattop cab (too tall I believe), and finally, the sleeper with only one window. This setup does exist irl, but it is not representative of the vast majority of 70 inch unibults.
I'm not sure how the SCS team could have made it worse, but this is pretty bad. Then there's the opposite spectrum with the effort put into the Cascadia: it's frankly annoying lol. There are very few people in trucking culture who are excited about a Cascadia, but tons who love the 379 and 389.
But then again, almost no one at SCS would know that.
Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
I do agree that the 389 is terrible, but you're looking WAY too deep into it, when SCS made the original 5 trucks (579, T680, 389, W900 and VNL) they didn't had any experience using accurate CAD files to make a truck, it was all based on pictures, and to be fair, those 5 trucks are way better than some of the older trucks in ETS2.
The reason why they don't rebuild them is because the vehicle team is already very busy with everything with wheels for both games, the only way i see a "remake" of old trucks happening is with outsourcing people to do them, also, if ATS get's "new" old trucks, the ETS2 gang will be VERY pissed because ETS2 has old trucks that need a remake WAY more than the 5 original ATS trucks...

Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
Vehicle teams working for both games. If ETS2 players says Scania Streamline needs remodeling so does the Actros MP3, MP4, Magnum, Premium.... Guess what, SCS cannot make new trucks for years. Unless SCS increases their vehicle team capacity they shouldn't consider remodeling older models. But if they have the capacity that can releases 3-4 trucks per year while doing remodeling then everybody wants to see remodeled old trucks with the CAD.seriousmods wrote: ↑01 May 2022 00:33 The 389 and 579 need model updates.
